Getting around a foreign destination like Cappadocia can be intimidating if you don’t know what to expect! That’s why I created this guide to getting around Cappadocia. The good news is, once you’ve arrived in Cappadocia, navigating the region is fairly straightforward, thanks to a range of transportation options that cater to all types of travelers. This guide covers the most common methods of getting around Cappadocia, with pros and cons of each. My goal is to ensure you arrive to Cappadocia confidently knowing how to get around!

1. Renting a Car
Renting a car is one of the most convenient and flexible ways to explore Cappadocia. With well-maintained roads and clear signage, driving allows you to visit attractions like Pasabagi, Göreme Open Air Museum, and Kaymaklı Underground City at your own pace.
- Where to Rent: Car rental agencies are available at both Nevşehir and Kayseri airports as well as in Göreme and Ürgüp.
- Advantages: Total flexibility, the ability to explore off-the-beaten-path locations, and convenience for day trips.
- Considerations: Parking is generally easy near most attractions, but some narrow roads in towns like Göreme may require careful navigation. I personally would not want to drive in Goreme, but Tim, on the other hand, would do fine! So keep this in mind when deciding if renting a car in Cappadocia is right for you!
2. Guided Tours with Transportation
If you prefer not to drive, booking a guided tour is a stress-free option that often includes transportation. Many tours are tailored to specific themes, such as historical sites, hot air balloon views, or cultural experiences.

While not as common as in larger cities, ride-hailing apps like BiTaksi are occasionally available in Cappadocia. These apps work similarly to Uber and can be a reliable option if taxis are hard to find.
